Stress and its Disorders

For those who are feeling overwhelmed, there is a way to manage your stress and “get on top of it”!

Stress is the source of the most prevalent psychological disorders in America today.  Current research data reveals stress to be:

bullet

The cause of all of the top five mental health issues in women in America and

bullet

The cause of the second through fifth top five mental health issues in men in America, with number one being drug and alcohol abuse (which is also often stress induced).

Stress disorders are the mental health issues that result from too much stress.  They include:

bullet

Panic and anxiety,

bullet

Phobias,

bullet

Obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors and

bullet

Depression.

Moreover, stress affects many other people who are simply caught up in living life in the fast lane.  As such, stress affects many people in the Church today.

This workshop addresses:

bullet

The causes and symptoms of generalized stress,

bullet

Each of the stress disorders — their unique causes and symptoms,

bullet

Training in the needed skills for personally overcoming and managing generalized stress and

bullet

Training in the needed skills for personally overcoming and managing each of the stress disorders.

Emphasis is given to developing supportive relationships among those who attend.  Confidentiality is maintained within the group

A meta-analysis of the many retrospective studies done on anxiety and depression clearly shows highest success rates with a combination of counseling and medication.  (Medication alone has a very poor success rate when looking at objective symptoms.)

Dorian has shown great ability to effectively counsel my patients who had various degrees of developmental and congenital depression and anxiety disorders.
