We attended a 3-month lifeline class offered by Dr. Focks at our church, entitled "Parenting Perspectives, A Seminar on Parenting Skills."  The focus was on parenting adolescents.  We are raising our third and last, a 15 year old son. 

This class and the Biblical basis of it turned out to be just what we needed in dealing with our son.  During this time period, he was faced with some tough decisions, choices, and pressures, (unfortunately yielding to some of them) and had to face some tough consequences with us.  He was displaying some rebellious behaviors and dishonesty. 

The advice and guidance in this class helped us respond in a more Christ-like way, and to be strong in assigning him some tough consequences...  Raising adolescents is a tough task and we are thankful we attended to receive the Godly advice we did as we face the remainder of this tough road ahead. 

A meta-analysis of the many retrospective studies done on anxiety and depression clearly shows highest success rates with a combination of counseling and medication.  (Medication alone has a very poor success rate when looking at objective symptoms.) 

Dorian has shown great ability to effectively counsel my patients who had various degrees of developmental and congenital depression and anxiety disorders.
